Belgiumpages Facq

Facq is a main Belgian wholesaler in the sanitary sector well known for its B2B catalogues : the “green book” covers plumbing and the “red book” heating.
The green book is about 450 pages and is refreshed twice a year. Work that took several weeks can be done in a few days now with Leaflet®.

Facq had stringent requirements when going over to database publishing :

  • No compromise on document quality
  • No space lost due to automation
  • Keep the existing layout.
  • Have the same layout available in HTML on the Internet.

Leaflet® was able to provide all this with productivity in mind. Extensive use of a small set of dynamic templates (about 5 templates for each book) allows to keep document maintenance to a bare minimum.

The catalogues are generated “semi automatically”. Placement of some banners and manual resizing and moving of pictures is part of the finishing touch that Facq still wants to do by hand.

After a first generation extranet site experience, Facq discovered that its existing customers were willing to order by Internet when they found the usual layout of the “green/red” book back on screen.

Leaflet® is 100% cross-media and it supports media specific features also. Facq makes use of context sensitive input fields, buttons, forms that are drawn in the original templates in order to get interactive pages. Those pages can receive and pass parameters and are now part of the ordering process of the Facq extranet.
